@SHINODAECOさんのツイート Message from President and CEO Since the establishment of our company 108 years have passed, however, our long history must not keep us from moving forward. In the 1980s, a company was said to last for 30 years, during which it would develop and prosper. From that time on, the business environment has changed significantly. The fourth industrial revolution centered on IoT and AI will accelerate the consolidation and reorganization of various industry. According to a study by a private research institution, among the companies that have declared bankruptcy in 2017, the average age was 23.5 years old since their creation. This is a 0.6 year decreased in lifespan, compared to the previous year. Furthermore, included in the 7318 companies investigated, 2288 were more than 20 years old. In many cases of bankruptcy, the companies relied too much on their past successes and failed to invest in new endeavors thus not managing to deal with globalization and diversification. Even proven companies will lose their management base if they do not have the flexibility to deal with the changing times. This is not something that has just started, and in the future, the pace of change will accelerate even further, and many companies will face difficulties. From now on, it will be necessary for us to go beyond our conventional operation into new business models to adapt to the needs of the new era. This necessity to adapt and project oneself in the future will be a key factor not only for companies but also for individuals if we want to overcome the many challenges that are waiting ahead of us. Let us move forward with our eyes open to not miss on new technologies to improve the lives of everyone. In recent years, public infrastructure such as bridges, tunnels, waterways, and water pipes have deteriorated. In addition, disasters caused by global warming can not be dealt with by the current safety standards. In order to answer these problems and ensure the safety of everyone, we use our extensive experience in conventional civil engineering as well as the opportunity arising from technological advancement, to provide new products and innovative infrastructures. We are also focusing on developing renewable energy systems that can handle power shortages, such as the 3.11 Fukushima nuclear accident. Our country is blessed with an abundance of natural resources, such as geothermal heat, rivers, and wind power and it would be a mistake to not use them. We wish to become an inspiration for the children who will carry the future of the country. Shinoda is a company that continues to take on challenges.
